What should I do first in ViamOne?

Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

You've created your vault. ViamOne gets useful as soon as it has something to read, so start with one important document, then add the people you look after. Here's a good order for your first ten minutes.

1. Add your first document

A passport is a good first choice. ViamOne reads it, files it in the right folder, and reminds you before it runs out.

  1. Go to Home.
  2. Click + at the top, then Upload a document.
  3. Choose the file or photo from your computer.

Some files are read straight away and some wait a little, depending on your plan. See When will my document be read?.

2. Get your vault's email address

Your vault has its own email address. Forward bills, policies and letters to it and they land in your vault.

  • On the web, click People in the left menu and look for Vault email.
  • On the phone, tap + on Home, then Forward by email.

The first email from a new sender waits on Home for you to approve. See How do I email documents to my vault?.

3. Add your family

Add the people you look after: children, parents, a partner. Their documents get the same care, and Emergency covers everyone.

  1. Click People in the left menu.
  2. Click Add dependent and fill in their details.

To give someone their own sign-in to your vault, invite them. See How do I add family members and dependents? and How do I invite someone to my vault, and what can they do?.

Security: Only people you invite can sign in to your vault. Dependents you add can't sign in at all.

4. Turn on two-step sign-in

Your vault holds passports and bank letters, so protect it with more than a password. Two-step sign-in asks for a code from an authenticator app when you sign in. It takes about a minute. See How do I turn on two-step sign-in?.

5. Put ViamOne on your phone

If you started on the web, get the app so you can scan documents and get reminders on the go. Sign in with the same email and password. See How do I get ViamOne on my phone?.

Tip: In the app, go to More › Security and tap Turn on App Lock so ViamOne asks for a PIN or Face ID when it opens.

What to look at next

Come back to Home over the next day. As ViamOne reads your documents, it adds what needs doing: an expiry coming up, a renewal, something missing. You'll also see your week at the top, with tasks and notes underneath.

Didn't work?

My document says it's waiting to be read

That's normal. On some plans, scanned files and PDFs are read on a schedule rather than straight away. The document shows when it will be read. See When will my document be read?.

I don't see the Add your family card on the phone

It only shows once you have at least one document and haven't added anyone yet. Tap More, then People, then + at the top instead.

I can't add more documents or people

Each plan has a limit on documents and on vault members. See What does each ViamOne plan include?.

Your vault stays yours

ViamOne will never ask for your password or a sign-in code: not by email, phone or message, and not in a ticket.
