How do I create my ViamOne vault?
Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 3 min read
Your vault is where your family's documents live. You create it once, with your own account, and then add family members to it later. It takes a couple of minutes, and you can start on the web or on your phone.
If someone has already invited you to their vault, don't create a new one. Open the invite email and follow its link instead. See How do I invite someone to my vault, and what can they do?.
Create your account
- Go to viamone.com and click Get started.
- On the Create your Vault page, either click Continue with Google, or fill in Full name, Work email, Password and Confirm password. Any email address you use works.
- Click Create Vault.
- You'll see Check your inbox. Open the email from ViamOne and click the verification link.
- You'll see Email verified! and ViamOne takes you into your vault.
If you used Continue with Google, there's no email to confirm. You go straight in.
Create your account
- Open the ViamOne app. If you don't have it yet, see How do I get ViamOne on my phone?.
- Tap Don't have an account? Sign up.
- On Create your vault, fill in Full name, Email, Password and Confirm password.
- Tap Create vault.
- You'll see Check your inbox. Open the email from ViamOne on your phone and tap the link.
- The app opens and shows Email verified!, then takes you to your vault. If it doesn't, go back to the app, tap Back to sign in and sign in.
The phone app doesn't have a Google option. To sign up with Google, use the web.
Choosing a password
Your password needs at least 10 characters. ViamOne also turns down passwords that have shown up in a known data breach, so if you see "That password has appeared in a known data breach", pick a different one.
Security: Use a password you don't use anywhere else. Once you're in, turn on two-step sign-in too. See How do I turn on two-step sign-in?.
What happens next
Once you're in, one screen asks for your first document. On the web it says Add your passport. See where your family stands. On the phone it says Scan your passport. See where your family stands.
- Upload a document (web) or Scan a document (phone) adds your first file.
- Or forward an email gives you your vault's own email address.
- I'll do it later takes you to Home.
ViamOne sets a few things up for you so you don't have to decide now:
- Your vault gets a name from your surname, like "The Parker Family". You can rename it on the web under Settings › Vault, or on the phone under More › Vault name.
- You start on the free Basic plan. You can change it any time. See What does each ViamOne plan include?.
Tip: Use the same email and password to sign in on the web and in the phone app. It's one vault, so everything you add shows up in both.
For what to do once you're in, see What should I do first in ViamOne?.
Didn't work?
The verification email never arrived
Check your spam or junk folder for an email from ViamOne. If it isn't there, try to sign in. ViamOne will show Verify your email with a Resend verification email button.
The link says it's invalid or has expired
Request a new one. Sign in with your email and password, then use Resend verification email. Always use the newest email.
It says I already have an account
You or someone in your family may have signed up with this email before. Try signing in, or use Forgot password? on the sign-in page. See I can't sign in. What do I do?.
