How do I get ViamOne to read a document again?
Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
Reading a document again sends it back through ViamOne from the start: it works out what kind of document it is, writes a fresh summary and picks out the details again. It's useful when ViamOne got the type wrong, mixed up most of the details, or couldn't read the document at all.
Tip: If only one or two details are wrong, it's quicker to correct them yourself. See How do I edit a document's details?.
Read it again
- Sign in at viamone.com.
- In the left menu, under Vault, click Files, then double-click the document.
- Click the ⋯ button at the top right of the page.
- Click Reprocess.
You'll see Reprocessing started, and a bar across the top of the page shows each step as ViamOne works through the document.
Read it again
- Open the ViamOne app, tap Vault and tap the document.
- Tap ⋯ at the top right.
- Tap Read again.
A card under the document shows each step, from Uploaded to Ready.
What changes and what stays
Reading again starts straight away. It doesn't wait for your plan's reading schedule, because you asked for it.
These stay as you left them:
- A name you gave the document yourself
- Any detail you corrected, marked with a small lock
- An expiry or start date you changed
Everything else is read afresh: the type of document, the summary and any details you haven't corrected. If you never renamed the document, ViamOne may also give it a new name.
When you won't see the option
Reprocess and Read again only appear once ViamOne has read the document, or has tried and couldn't. While a document is still waiting or being read, there's nothing to restart, so the option is hidden. Viewers in a vault don't see it either.
Didn't work?
It says "Document is already being processed"
ViamOne is already reading it. Wait for it to finish, then check the details again.
The details are still wrong after reading again
A blurry, dark or cut-off scan is hard to read however many times it's tried. Scan it again in good light, add the new copy, and delete the old one. Or correct the details yourself, which ViamOne will then keep.
Nothing new appears for a file in a private folder
ViamOne never reads files in a private folder, even when you ask it to read again. To have it read, move the file to the vault. See What is the private folder?.
