How do I fix an expiry date ViamOne got wrong?
Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 3 min read
When ViamOne reads a passport, a policy or a licence, it picks out the expiry date and uses it for your reminders and for tasks on Home. Now and then it reads the wrong date, perhaps the issue date or a smudged number. You can put it right in a few taps, and your date then counts everywhere.
Change the date
- Open the ViamOne app and tap Vault.
- Tap the document.
- Under At a glance, tap the coloured expiry card. It shows Expired or Expires with the date.
- Tap Not expired? if ViamOne thinks the document has run out, or Change date if it hasn't.
- In the calendar, tap the month or the year at the top to jump there, then tap the right day.
The date saves as soon as you tap a day, and the card changes colour to match.
You can also tap the expiry row further down in At a glance. It has a small calendar next to it and opens the same calendar.
Change the date
- Sign in at viamone.com.
- In the left menu, under Vault, click Files.
- Double-click the document to open it.
- In the At a glance card, click the date in the row that holds the expiry.
- Type the correct date, for example 2029-06-30 or 30 Jun 2029.
- Press Enter, or click the tick, to save.
What happens next
Your date becomes the document's expiry everywhere: on the document, on the Expired or Valid label in your Vault, on Home and in the reminders ViamOne sends before something runs out. If ViamOne had added a renewal task to Home because it thought the document had expired, and your date shows it's still valid, that task is cleared.
A small lock appears beside the row. It means you corrected it, and ViamOne keeps your date even if the document is read again later.
Tip: To see where ViamOne found the date, tap or click the small line under it that starts "Read next to". It shows the words printed next to the date on the page.
Didn't work?
The web says "That isn't a date this can read"
A date written only in numbers, such as 06/30/2029, could mean two different days, so ViamOne doesn't guess. Type it as 2029-06-30, or with the month in words, such as 30 Jun 2029. On the phone you pick from a calendar, so this doesn't come up.
There's no expiry date to change
If ViamOne found no expiry date on the document, there's no expiry card and no date row. You can still set your own reminder with Remind on the document page. If the date is printed clearly, try How do I get ViamOne to read a document again?.
I can't click or tap the date
Some documents show only general rows on the web, such as Valid from, which can't be edited there. Use the expiry card in the phone app instead. If nothing on the page can be changed, you may be a viewer in this vault. Ask the vault owner to change your role or fix the date for you.
