How do I set up emergency access?

Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

In an emergency, someone may need your family's key details fast: blood group, allergies, IDs, insurance and who to call. The Emergency page brings these together for each person. You can share them as a link that opens in any browser and stops working when you choose.

Check each person's emergency profile

Open Emergency. On the web it's under Family in the left menu. On the phone, tap More, then Emergency.

Each person in People has an emergency profile: their card, their emergency facts and their important documents. Open a person to see what's on file and what's missing, and to add notes such as allergies, medication or how to calm them.

Owners and admins can change which documents each person should have with the Emergency checklist.

A document under the wrong person? On the web, open its menu and choose Not the right person? Reassign….

Add who to call

  1. On the Emergency page, find Who to call and click Add a contact.
  2. Type their name and phone number with the country code. An address is optional.
  3. Under Assign to, pick whose profiles they should appear on. If you pick no one, they appear on everyone's.
  4. Click Save.
  1. At the top of the Emergency page, choose Everyone or pick the people to include. To send only certain documents, tick them instead.
  2. Click Share profile, or Share and the number of documents you ticked.
  3. Check Going out, then set when the link Expires, up to 30 days ahead. Add a Password (optional) if you like.
  4. Click Preview to see exactly the page they'll see. Nothing is sent yet.
  5. Click Looks good — create link, then Copy and send it.

The link includes each chosen person's card and emergency facts, the documents you picked, and who to call. It shows what was on file when you made it. If you update something later, make a new link.

Security: Anyone with the link can open it unless you add a password, and ID numbers on the documents you include show in full. Choose a short expiry, send any password separately, and revoke links you no longer need.

Every live link is listed under Shared links on the Emergency page until it expires. To stop one working straight away, click the × beside it on the web, or tap it and choose Revoke link on the phone. Viewers can't create or revoke links.

On the web you can also Print a sheet for the people you picked.

A document isn't on someone's profile

It may not be read yet, or may be marked as someone else's. Check who it belongs to: How do I edit a document's details?.

The link won't open

It may have expired or been revoked. Make a new one. If it asks for a password, they need the one you set.
